Information we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to provide URL shortening services:

• Account information — your email address and (if you sign up with a password) a hashed password. We never store passwords in plain text.
• Link data — the long URLs you submit and the corresponding short links we generate.
• Click data — when someone clicks one of your short links, we record the timestamp, approximate country (derived from IP), referring page, and the device category (mobile / tablet / desktop). We do not store full IP addresses with click records.
• Service usage — basic logs of which features you use, retained for 90 days for security and abuse prevention.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Provide the URL shortening and redirect service.
• Show you analytics about your links.
• Communicate service updates, security notices, and (if you opt in) product news.
• Prevent abuse — detect phishing, spam, and malicious links.
• Comply with legal obligations.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data. We do not embed third-party tracking pixels in the redirect chain. We do not share your link data with advertising networks. We do not require you to install browser extensions or share your contact list.

Cookies

We use a single first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not set advertising cookies. If you visit our site without an account, no tracking cookies are set.

Third parties

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Daily Meaning:

• A CDN provider for edge delivery (no personal data is shared).
• A payment processor (for paid plans) — they receive only what's needed to complete your transaction.
• A transactional email provider for password resets and account notifications.

We don't use any other third-party services with access to your account data.

Your rights

You can:

• Access your account data at any time from your dashboard.
• Export your link data as CSV.
• Delete your account, which removes all your links and click data within 30 days.
• Request a copy of all data we hold about you (GDPR Subject Access Request).
